An invoice template for contractors.
Billing for a job? The invoice below is already filled in with a bathroom repaint: three days of labor and the paint. Change it to your job, add your customer’s name and print it. It’s free, and there’s no account to make.
What a job invoice needs.
- 01
Labor and materials, on separate lines
Put your time on one line and what you bought on another: “Labor, 3 days” and “Paint and materials.” The customer sees what the job took, and nobody has to ask what a lump sum covers.
- 02
Tax, where it applies
Some states tax materials but not labor. Every line has its own Taxed box, so untick the lines that aren’t taxed and put your rate in Tax %. Check your state’s rules if you’re not sure.
- 03
A deposit up front, the balance at the end
On a bigger job, ask for part of it before you start, often enough to cover materials. Invoice the deposit first. When the job’s done, invoice the rest and note what the deposit already covered.
Your invoice, started for you.
